KOM MEK WI WORSHIP ~ Jo-Ann Faith Richards (2012)

12 Scripture-based songs for the Jamaican worshipper in Jamaican language and Jamaican music genres including mento, dance-hall, rocksteady and nyabinghi. 9 of the songs were written by Jamaican/glocal ethnodoxologist Jo-Ann Richards.

KOM MEK WI WORSHIP! is a call to all speakers of Jamaican Creole to worship God in song using the heart language and heart music of Jamaica. Most of the songs were inspired by the Scriptures translated into Jamaican Creole/patwa by the Bible Society of the West Indies in collaboration with Wycliffe Bible Translators Caribbean and the Jamaica Language Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona. Produced in this our Jubilee year of Independence as a nation, Kom Mek Wi Worship! is a direct response to the call to SING A NEW SONG JAMAICA!

A WE SE TEAM ~ Jo-Ann Faith Richards (2016)

A rootsy reggae vibe celebrating our marital union

Two months before my 51st birthday I met the love of my life. Shortly after we acknowledged that this was ‘it’, I had a major project. He dove right in and was beside me from start to finish. At the end, as we cleared up the last bit of junk, we looked into each other’s eyes, high-fived and said “A we se TEAM!” Six months later, we were preparing for our wedding. In true ‘Jo-Ann’ style, I was home with my foot in a cast just one week before the wedding! This was when I asked God for a song for us, and this is it!

It is our desire that this song be used to empower couples all over the world and help more and more couples to be true reflections of the relationship between God and His church.
